PTH concept and solution for geographic information systems
Since 2001, Perfect Timing Holding, as an international group of companies with a large number of specialized departments and industrial solutions for the global economy, has also had expertise in the field of geographic information systems. This creates the technical, content-related, and organizational basis so that in the event of a current need for solutions from this special technology area, solutions that can be used immediately can be made available to the customer.
For this reason, modern software was developed with the German company SHH GmbH on behalf of Perfect Timing Holding, which meets the requirements of geographic information systems with modern software architecture and memory organization and was particularly geared to the principle of the modular and user-oriented, parameter-controlled overall solution.
Thus, the concept of the “PARameterorientierten Informations Systems” was the basis for the overall concept of the software solution, from which the product name “PARIS” was developed.
This software and project solution differs from the internationally available previous solutions due to the hardware independence as well as the modernity and variability of the overall concept on the basis
- the Graphic System Microstation from Bentley Systems
- the database system of the US software company Oracle Cooperation.
This PARIS solution won a Europe-wide tender and thus became the technical basis for the largest project implemented in Europe to date, the introduction of a geographic information system for the Vattenfall Group in Berlin, the capital of Germany, to create and operate a digital management system for the entire electricity and District heating networks of Berlin, the capital of Germany.
This software area is currently being looked after by the Perfect Timing Holding IT company PTT and is being further developed on the basis of modern software technologies.
The Geo-Information system PARIS
The geoinformation system PARIS is a product family of software products that can be combined in any user-specific way for desktop and/or web-based application solutions for a geographic information system.
The software structure is object-oriented in order to internally secure the requirement for direct data linking of graphic and alphanumeric data so that a consistent database is always secured since separate data management of graphic and alphanumeric descriptive data is also not required.
The software structure is divided into
- Server services, as central data management for all desktop and/or web workstations
- recording,
- processing,
- organization, analysis, and presentation of spatial data https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geographic_data_and_information.
- Desktop workstations are configured as single or multiple-screen workstations or as user or administrator workstations.
- Web workstation for processing and/or providing information about geo-information.
Introduction and operation of the geoinformation systems
The construction and operation of a geoinformation system with the sub-processes
- for recording,
- editing,
- organization,
- Analysis and
- Presentation
of spatial data is directly dependent on the geographic data to be managed and processed.
Basically, a distinction is made between the two main geographical areas of application, which are mostly used in combination
- geographical areas: (Property management, real estate management, etc.)
- geographic networks: (Network management for supply networks, such as electricity, gas, oil, telecommunications, water, and sewage, )
Basic data models are used as the basis for the concrete customer-specific data model of the geo-information system, such as
Channel | Water – Drinking water – Sewage |
Lighting | Cable – Electricity – Gas – oil – District heating and conduits |
Tree cadastre | Green spaces | Playgrounds | Cultural Monuments |
Development plan | Zoning plans | Land Contracts | Resident Registration Data |
Cemetery cadastre | Bridges |
The introduction and operation of the geo-information system is always an overall project with the project parts
- Organizational project
- Cooperation with external service providers
- Geographically referenced data collection or data update
- Definition of the customer-specific data model to define the
- Graphic representation of the geo objects connected to the descriptive topological and thematic data (factual data and/or attribute data)
- with their attributes
- informational _linking of the geo object
- with linked geo objects
- with associated alphanumeric data
- with automatic calculation algorithms
- Definition of responsibilities for
- graphically georeferenced data acquisition of new or updated information
- Integration of external data sources with necessary coordinate transformation if necessary external commissioning for additional required surveying tasks
- Quality control of data collection and approval for integration into the overall database of the geographic information system
- Reporting (thematic) for user information
- Presentation of geo data for defined application topics (external and internal.
- Software and data model update.
- User training/support
